Bar is situated 6km to the south-eastern direction along the coast from our house. The municipality of Bar spreads over the land area of 598km2 and over the Adriatic coast in the length of 46km. The highest point of Municipality is the peak of mountain Rumija, at height of 1593m above sea level.

Bar's municipality has 83 settlements and about 50.000 inhabitants. It is divided into 12 local communities, Sutomore is one of it. Bar is famous for its multi-nationality structure. Its wealth consists of 25 nationalities which are settled in this area.

Bar has an average of 270 sunny days in a year and is rated as on of the sunniest place in the South Europe. Its climate is characterized by long and hot summers and its average year temperature is 15,5oC. The average temperature in July is 23oC while the average temperature in January is 10oC.

Main role of Bar is to represent connection between Montenegro and the rest of the world since it is a border municipality tied to Italy across the Adriatic Sea.

Even at the start of the new Millennium Bar is a political, industrial, cultural and sport centre of the South Adriatic coastal area.

It is estimated that the future of Bar lays in the private business through the development of little and medium sized companies. There are about 600 registered private enterprises in Bar dealing with production, trade, catering and other services. These are

In its history Bar was known as "the second administrative centre of Montenegro" because the last Montenegrin king Nikola used to spend a lot of time in it after he had built his palace in Bar.
